Apple is set to launch the fourth-generation iPhone on February 19, 2025, introducing significant upgrades to its budget-friendly smartphone line-up. This release marks a notable shift in design and functionality, aligning it more closely with Apple’s flagship models.
iPhone Design and Display
The iPhone may adopt a design reminiscent of the iPhone 14, featuring a 6.1-inch OLED display with a notch, replacing the previous 4.7-inch LCD screen and the traditional Home button. This change facilitates the introduction of Face ID for enhanced security and user convenience. The device also boasts flat edges and an aluminium frame, offering a modern aesthetic.
Performance and Hardware
Under the hood, the new iPhone could be powered by Apple’s A18 Bionic chip, coupled with 8GB of RAM. This combination ensures robust performance and supports Apple Intelligence features, bringing advanced AI capabilities to a wider audience. Additionally, the device is expected to be the first to incorporate Apple’s in-house 5G modem, enhancing connectivity and reducing reliance on third-party components.
Camera System
The new model is expected to be equipped with a single 48MP rear camera, a substantial upgrade from its predecessor’s 12MP lens. This enhancement promises improved image quality and versatility. The front-facing camera also sees an upgrade to 12MP, catering to high-quality selfies and video calls.
Additional Features
In compliance with recent EU regulations, the iPhone will transition to a USB-C port for charging and data transfer. It also introduces a customisable Action Button, allowing users to personalise device functions according to their preferences.
Pricing and Availability
Could this be Apple’s most affordable iPhone yet? It is expected to be priced at approximately $500 in the United States and around €599 in Europe. Pre-orders are anticipated to begin shortly after the announcement, with devices becoming available by the end of February 2025. This launch signifies Apple’s commitment to providing high-quality, affordable options within its smartphone range, making advanced features accessible to a broader audience.
