Active News Bites – 25 Years Of Active Digital
25 years of Active Digital
November marks a special month in the Active Digital calendar as we celebrate the company’s 25th birthday this month.
Officially on 29th November 1996, Active Digital was registered in the United Kingdom as a private limited company. It is hard to think of an industry that moves as quickly as the technology industry. In such a fast-paced environment, only the strong survive.
We have seen so much change over the last twenty years, it has been a truly remarkable journey. Within the first year of trading, we started delivering all our mobile phones (by hand) and called ourselves ‘Active’ so we could be at the front of the yellow pages to gain more new enquiries. Today, the yellow pages is no more and we now deliver many of devices, same day, sometimes within two hours. We respect and recognise the true power of the mobile device, enabling businesses to transform the way the work and removing the traditional desktop PC use.
As we enter our 25th year in business, we are using this time to reflect, express gratitude and consider how the industry has changed since Active Digital was founded. We love being in a fast-paced industry and it is the fast pace that keeps us on our toes. The technology industry continues to fuel our passion to respond to customer demands, quicker and more efficiently than ever before.
Thank you to each and every single one of our loyal customers and those that have helped and supported us through the years… here’s to the next 25!

DIY repairs for iPhone. A Genius idea from Apple?
In the early days of Active we repaired our customers phones ourselves and now we see this coming back around again!
From early 2022, Apple iPhone owners in the United States will start selling you the parts you need to fix your device. Shattered screens and ageing batteries in iPhones used to require a trip to the Apple Store; or a trip to a local independent mobile provider, but, in a change of strategy, Apple want to give customers more choice.
Apple surprised “Right to Repair” advocates by announcing a new Self Service Repair program, which will allow owners of its products to request the official tools, components and manuals needed to repair damaged Apple products on their own. “Creating greater access to Apple genuine parts gives our customers even more choice if a repair is needed,” Jeff Williams, Apple’s chief operating officer, said in a statement. At first, Apple will sell parts and tools for repairing iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series smartphones, including commonly needed components such as batteries and cameras, from an online storefront.

Feeling the Burn Out? Here are 7 types of rest that every person should consider
Ever wondered why you try to go to bed an hour earlier but you still wake up the next day feeling completely exhausted? We have all tried it but wonder why it doesn’t work. When was the last time you woke up and felt completely rested? According to Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith, sleep and rest are not the same thing which is why many of us are falling into cycles of exhaustion.
We often go through life thinking that if we feel rested, we must have had enough sleep, but the reality is, many of us are missing out on other types of rest we desperately need. A high achieving, high producing culture may be great, but it is slowly starting to build chronic burn out in many individuals and in turn, it means we have forgotten how to engage the power of rest.
Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith says that rest should be divided into these seven key areas in your life and she lists them all here

Congratulations to all the organisations who have worked so hard to keep customers connected and manage their service needs throughout the last nineteen months since the first lockdown. Customers have needed their suppliers more than ever and for those who have continued to provide an exceptional level of customer experience should be applauded. Brands have learned an important lesson about empathy during this pandemic. Why not keep this empathy going? If there’s one big lesson we’ve learned, it’s that caring for your customers is good for business.
