When O2 launched our 5G network in October 2019, O2 committed to 50 towns and cities being switched on by summer 2020.
O2 are delighted to confirm that as of 11 June, O2 have surpassed their commitment with 5G now being available in 60 UK locations. Here is a list of towns and cities now available for 5G coverage, subject to having a 5G compatible device.
Aberdeen Ashford Banstead Basildon Belfast Birmingham Bradford Brighton Bristol Cardiff |
Chatham Chesterfield Coventry Dartford Derby Dundee Eastbourne Edinburgh Esher |
Gateshead Gillingham Glasgow Grays Hemel Hempstead Huddersfield Hull Leeds Leicester Lisburn |
Liverpool London Lowestoft Luton Manchester Mansfield Middlesbrough Newcastle Upon Tyne Newtownabbey North Shields |
Northampton Norwich Nottingham Oxford Peterborough Plymouth Rainham Redhill Rotherham Sheffield |
Slough South Shields Stoke-on-Trent Sunbury Sunderland Thundersley Warrington Weybridge Windsor Worthing York |
It’s also worth remembering that 5G is still a new service and therefore, O2 are still working hard to continually improve 3G and 4G as well. Customers should also note that 5G doesn’t travel very far indoors as it doesn’t penetrate buildings as well as 4G.
Coming Soon?
We’ll keep you updated as new towns and cities go live – but in the meantime, you can refer to O2’s Coverage Checker at https://www.o2.co.uk/coveragechecker for the most up to date information on whether a customer’s location is live on O2 5G.
